Celebrating India's 77th Independence Day with the 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' Campaign

India is preparing for an amazing celebration of its 77th Independence Day that goes above and beyond the norm. On July 30, as part of the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the motivational "Meri Mati Mera Desh" campaign in his 103rd Mann Ki Baat programme. This campaign, which is scheduled for execution from August 9 to August 15, is a heartfelt tribute to the brave heroes who gave their lives in order to secure the nation's freedom.

The campaign's tagline, 'Mitti ko naman, veeron ka vandan,' encapsulates the essence of this unique initiative, which holds deep value. Its focus lies in honoring the land and valor of India. The 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' campaign aims to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of the nation and pay tribute to its courageous heroes.

This year's campaign emphasises "Jan Bhagidari," or people's participation, and adopts a cooperative methodology. At diverse levels, from villages and Panchayats to metropolitan local bodies and states, a variety of programmes and events will be held. In honour of our invincible martyrs, multiple events will be held all over the nation, as Prime Minister Modi noted. Innumerable local panchayats will also have specific inscriptions put in to remember these heroes.

An integral part of the campaign is the 'Amrit Kalash Yatra,' a symbolic journey carrying soil from every corner of India in 7500 urns to Delhi, the nation's capital. Alongside the soil, saplings from various regions of the country will also be carried, contributing to the creation of the 'Amrit Vatika.' This exquisite garden will be established near the National War Memorial, blending the soil and saplings from the 7500 urns. The 'Amrit Vatika' holds a significant role in promoting the ideals of 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat' – One India, Great India.

The 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' campaign involves an array of events and activities that foster interaction and mutual understanding among people from different states and Union Territories. These include:

·         Dedication of Shilaphalakam – Installing nameplates of the valiant heroes.

·         Taking the Panch Pran Pledge – A pledge that signifies unity and progress.

·         Vasudha Vandan – Creating the Amrit Vatika with 75 saplings of indigenous trees.

·         Veeron Ka Vandan – Honoring freedom fighters and brave individuals who safeguard the nation, along with their families.

·         Hoisting of the National Flag and singing the National Anthem – Symbolizing patriotism and pride.

In conclusion, the 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' campaign is a remarkable and innovative approach to celebrate India's 77th Independence Day. It is an invitation for all citizens to participate by sending soil from their native places or historically significant locations to the Ministry of Culture. This soil will play a crucial role in the creation of the Amrit Vatika – a living tribute to our nation's rich heritage and the sacrifices made for its freedom.

As we approach Independence Day 2023, let's embrace this campaign wholeheartedly and join hands to honor our heroes and celebrate our land with pride and gratitude. Happy Independence Day!
